Top 5 Most Ridiculous CBD Products

Since the 2018 ‘Farm Bill,’ the CBD industry has exploded. And while cannabis reforms have expanded access to millions of Americans who can benefit from the natural healing properties of CBD, the industry is rife with scam companies, MLM brands, and ridiculous products. In this article, we take a look at some of the more egregious CBD trends that we think you should avoid.

#5 Activewear Infused with CBD

There are legitimate studies that suggest CBD can reduce inflammation or help muscles and joints recover, none of which studies include putting on a CBD-infused arm sleeve.

The bioavailability rates after using topical products are still questionable (we recommend always buying products with a high potency). Our skin isn’t as permeable as mucosal glands in the mouth, so we aren’t sure how the ‘CBD’ is from the infused fibers will make it to the bloodstream.

#4 The Rise of Immune Boosters During the Pandemic

Context is key here.

Many companies are offering CBD-vitamin infusions that are legit products with actual CBD and provide full transparency. However, to claim that CBD is an immune booster during a pandemic is dangerous, especially in the darkest days when there weren’t any proven COVID-19 treatments.

We don’t have a problem with CBD vitamin and C gummies, but the rise of these products during the pandemic was opportunistic and misleading. In addition, many companies full on market their products as a treatment for COVID; the problem got so out of hand the FDA had to release warning letters to multiple CBD companies.

#3 CBD Infused Bed Sheets and Pillowcases

CBD-infused bed sheets promise to reduce anxiety, depression, pain to deliver better sleep, simultaneously reducing acne and boosting heart health. The most prevalent CBD sheet peddler online says their ‘patent-pending CBD-Technofiber’ CBD is added: “during the finishing process under controlled temperature setting and dried at a maximum heat to set the CBD into the fibers.”

The brand makes some bold claims while leaving out the thread count in their made-in-China sheets. We suspect they buy sheets wholesale, spray CBD on them, and repackage them with bogus health claims on the box. We would suggest sticking with one of the many CBD hemp oils for sale, and it doesn't even have to be from us, just please no bed sheets!

#2 Tanka CBD Bracelet

Various companies sell CBD wearables, the most popular being the CBD bracelet from Tanks Distribution. The brand promises that you will receive a steady flow of CBD from their bracelet to the endocannabinoid system for 30 days.

Other than their questionable delivery mechanism, one of the red flags is how they market their products. Many scam CBD companies use multiple websites to push unsubstantiated claims on one URL while selling their products on another. The URL that connected to their credit card processing account has no mention of CBD.

Here are some other red flags we encountered while looking at Tanka Bracelets:

  • Shipping to multiple countries - American CBD companies can’t ship to Europe or Australia; Tanka does.
  • Claiming over 90% bioavailability
  • Disclaimer: “We are not responsible if information made available on this site is not accurate, complete, or current.”
  • No mention of dosages

#1 All Delta-8 THC Products

Delta-8 is the latest trending cannabinoid to gain the attention of the masses. D8 is synthesized from CBD, making it legal under the ‘Farm Bill,’ depending on who you ask. While Delta-8 doesn’t contain over 0.3% THC (Delta-9), the effects are similar to its close counterpart, especially when taken as an edible.

D8 products certainly work and aren’t scams like CBD bed sheets, but the idea of passing off Delta-8 as a hemp-derived cannabinoid protected under the ‘Farm Bill’ seems a bit disingenuous. Fortunately for the thousands of companies willing to send products that get you high to anyone with a credit card, time is running short. Many states have outright banned the sale of the synthetic cannabinoid, and the FDA recently released statements regarding the safety of Delta-8 products. We expect federal regulations will likely come next.

Be Cautions Buy from a Reputable Seller

CBD is an incredible cannabis compound, and we are just beginning to understand the potential. However, that doesn’t mean it is a miracle cure, can prevent infectious diseases, or change your life simply by wearing an infused bracelet. For those just getting started, we recommend starting with one of our 500 MG CBD oils, available for sale on our website
